Terry-Michael is the Pastor for Congregational Care at Zebulon Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC. He’s been there since the Fall of 2007, although this was not his first time working for Zebulon Baptist. From 1992-1996, he served as the Minister of Youth. The years when he was not on staff there found him as the Campus Minister at Campbell University where he was a counselor, advisor, professor, and advocate for students. He has also served as a teacher and preacher for churches and organizations, a hospital chaplain, and a retreat leader. He has degrees from Campbell University, Duke Divinity School, and the University of Wales Cardiff (UK). He married his high school sweetheart, Kim, and they have two daughters, Bailey and Zoë.
He primarily works in the areas of pastoral care and counseling for the church community through hospital and home visits as well as counseling by appointments. He also leads the church’s outreach ministries to the local community. His experiences as a pastoral counselor and hospital chaplain help to provide authentic care and concern at critical times and explore personal situations with careful thought and attention.
At any given moment, Terry-Michael is not too far from his ipod or laptop. His ipod is full of music of all kinds, podcasts of various styles, and even a movie or two. He blogs sporadically about church, culture, music, the world, and even what kind of coffee he had today. He likes to piddle and tinker around the house thinking of himself as a handyman, but doesn’t do too much without a first aid kit close by. As far as hobbies, Terry-Michael has set a goal to learn how to surf, but hasn’t made any headway toward reaching it.
Terry-Michael ministers through establishing relationships and leading others to explore the mystery and meaning that exists as God’s creation. With deep compassion and genuine concern, he hopes to help others along their spiritual journeys in whatever direction that may be.
